In the darkest time of the year, we bring music of hope and renewal, celebrating the Christmas season and the winter solstice.

“When the swallow takes her flight,
When the day is filled with night:
Light a flame to guide you through.
Spring will surely come to you.”

—Anna Tabbush, from Winter Song

Featuring the seamlessly blended voices of the Tactus Vocal Ensemble joined by harp, piano and strings, the concert includes:
—traditional Christmas carols like “In the Bleak Midwinter” and “I Wonder as I Wander”
—Meditations on the darkness of winter, including a selection from Franz Schubert’s “Winter’s Journey,” “Winter Song” by Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson, and Randall Thompson’s setting of Robert Frost’s poem “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening”
—Ethereal choral music by Eric Whitacre, Benjamin Britten, and Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo, and a world premiere of a piece by Tactus Music Director Warren Puffer Jones.
