Jacob Cortez, violin

Violinist, educator, and string arranger, Jacob Cortez specializes in jazz, baroque, and classical performance. He has appeared as a soloist with the One O’Clock Lab Band, and his arrangements have been performed by the University of North Texas (UNT) Jazz String Ensemble. He is currently the Teaching Fellow for the Jazz Strings studio at UNT where he teaches secondary jazz strings lessons.

As a Baroque Violinist, Jacob has graced the stage with notable artists such as Monica Huggett, Lars Ulrik Mortenson, and Cynthia Roberts. He performs with the American Baroque Opera Company where he has served as concertmaster and has appeared as an occasional soloist. Jacob was also soloist in the Bach’s Lunch concert series at the Church of Incarnation (Dallas, TX) and has toured in Europe with Ensemble Fantasmi. He has performed with orchestras such as the Texas Music Festival Orchestra and Mckinney Philharmonic.
