Jacob Merrill is a freelance trumpeter and teacher from Norman, Oklahoma. Jacob finished his Bachelor of Music in trumpet performance at the University of Oklahoma in 2020, and proceeded to finish his Master’s degree at San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2022. 

In 2022, Jacob won the position of Associate Principal Trumpet with the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra. Alongside SDSO, Jacob has performed with well respected ensembles such as Oklahoma City Philharmonic, National Arts Centre Orchestra, and the Fountain City Brass Band. Another way Jacob keeps himself inspired is through attending competitive summer music festivals located in Aspen, Taiwan, Ottawa, and other places around the globe. 

While music takes up a lot of his time, Jacob also keeps himself busy by playing with his dog named Chief, looking for a new book to read, or cheering on the Oklahoma City Thunder.
